The longest-running commercial art gallery in the Philippines celebrates its 47th anniversary with artists whose practices have endured the test of time.

In celebration of Galleria Duemila’s 47th year in the local art scene, the longest-running commercial art gallery in the Philippines holds a Christmas and anniversary exhibit entitled “It’s Casual Entertainment, We Aim to Please!”

However, there isn’t anything casual about the line-up of artists featured in the exhibit: CCP Thriteen Artists Awardees Ronald Achacoso and Jonathan Olazo; three-time Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards winner Cris Villanueva Jr.; iACADEMY School of Design and the Arts Dean Jon Cuyson; seasoned artist and lecturer Raul Rodriguez; and modern and contemporary artists Ramon Manuel de Leon and Trek Valdizno.

As the exhibit notes state, these artists and their practices have endured decades of changes in the art scene. The show thus becomes a palate cleanser, a return to appreciating art and the artists intimately, rather than consuming art to “seek for sensory pleasure that often leaves us in a labyrinth of popular aesthetics; the representational imagery, the familiar and digestible, and the marketable and ornamental art works.”

Galleria Duemila will reopen its whole gallery space to host the works of these acclaimed artists. “It’s Casual Entertainment, We Aim to Please!”  opens this Friday, December 3, and will run until January 14, 2022.

To schedule a visit or to gain more information about the exhibition, you may book your appointment via this link.
