How we see style in the coming months

Our lives under lockdown have had their valleys, but we’ve almost reached peak isolation. It’s time to think about what’s next.

While some people will get part of their routines back in motion after the quarantine, the last thing we’re all thinking about is dressing up. And true, it seems like a frivolous thing to think about at a time like this, but when everything’s uncertain, it also becomes important to make each purchase count.

There’s going to be a shift in buying behaviors when it comes to style. People will want fewer flashy, statement pieces, and will opt for more items that will not only endure but also go well with the new normal.

The world has become a lot different, and as we face what lies ahead, it’s going to be more about attitude and less about what your clothes are saying on the surface.

So what do we see becoming popular?

Some of these key accessories we’ve picked up from the series we heavily binged on during the lockdown. Long-wearing essentials that will transition well with the weather. A little bit of unexpected color for unexpected situations. But all geared toward building a wardrobe that will last well into the future.

Regardless of whichever way you plan on bouncing back, we’ve listed some style bases here for you.

@paul.mescal

Paul Mescal’s chore jacket, henley, and neck chain make a solid ensemble. Worn in the television series Normal People, the chain has become so popular that it has its own Instagram fan base, which now has over 100,000 followers.

@stevecalder

A utility vest (the grown-up version) will come in handy over the next few months. With all those pockets, it automatically becomes a new norm essential. So you can bring bottles of hand sanitizer, extra masks, and your other gear without having to fiddle around with a bag.

@tanfrance

For those who are working from home, you can make pajama dressing more preppy and less perky when your pair it with neutral trousers.

@drakesdiary

Lounge suits are also making a comeback as more and more occasions and situations are calling for it.

@keiranwang

Orange is also back. This contemporary color will work with your existing wardrobe in perfect contrast.

@jacquemus

A knit shirt is your dependable companion. These Jacquemus shirts in mellow colors drip a new kind of luxury.

@johnmayer

And in case you need to suit up in a PPE, a white parka would come in handy, especially with the colder months up ahead.
